Customers Reviews  2010-07-26 What about veggies??? I just purchased the book and read through it. My husband and I would like to try it. But I'm wondering...where are all the vegetables? I looked through all 5 of his diet weeks and aside from some lettuce and spinach leaves, can find no vegetables included in the menus. This doesn't seem healthy at all to me. For example, under the "carb lover" week, one supper is mac & cheeese - that's it, no vegetables. Any ideas? |  2010-07-23 Disappointed I received the book and was very disappointed to find that it was filled with meaty and very high fat recipes. The useful information could fit into a pamphlet of about 50 pages. Basically sugar is bad for you and you need to balance your sugar with healthy carbs. Big surprise there! This is just a reworking of the Zone diet. Sample menus would make most people over 5 feet 8 inches starve. I can see why someone would lose weight on this diet- it is a low calorie diet. I gave it 2 stars because he made two point of less sugar and more healthy carbs and sugar makes you have a big belly. I did not need a book to tell me that! |  2010-07-22 Bacon, sausage, cheese, meat, heavy cream for starters..Bad Bad book. It may have some valid points about sugar being bad for us and we might need protein and fat to not crave sugar.
We do not need bacon and sausage. This guy took perfectly good 'lose weight' food and added heavy cream.
I'm leaving out the adjectives that come to mind. lol
Very disappointing. If you think you can take this book and do what it says, you could be disappointed. Personally, I am shocked that Dr. Weil, Dr. Oz, and Dr. Northrup recommended this. I guess they figure if we don't know massive quantities of fat, salt, and nitrates will kill us, we're beyond hope????
I was really counting on this being a no brainer. It is not. I've lost people to heart disease and heavy cream. This book is shocking.
Aside from that, it's annoying. You're supposed to use his genius S/C Sugar/Carb formula to magically lose weight. The sugar grams are exact. One point of carbs is between 5 and 20 carbs. If he just used the actual number of carbs, we would stay based in reality and ask how much fat and salt are in this amazing recipe. So, dig out your old carb counter book so you know how to count the carb points and don't go over.
This weight loss plan will work. Atkins proved that decades ago. I went from chubby to lean and mean in 10 days on Atkins with a little help from cyclamates. Back then, 1973, Atkins warned that more than 10 days on the low carb thing would trash your kidneys.
This guy gives health hints like don't buy turkey with nitrates in it because nitrates are bad for you. But, do be sure to add some ______________ bacon to everything you eat!!!!!!!
I have a list of 10 more things I'm outraged about. It's too hard to say it all without swearing. I, also, hate souding irrational. I am ticked at what this guy is doing.
|  2010-07-22 Only useful in USA I believe that this would be a very, very helpful book for people living in the USA who wanted to loose weight as it gives examples of actual food products that can be substituted. However it is not suitable for people overseas because so many of the products are only available in the USA. |  2010-07-19 Interesting ideas Interesting, but not too practical. Good suggestons for cutting sugar from your diet, but the recipes for what to eat in it's place are very heavy in fat.
Good resources for low sugar products. That was worth the price of the book. |

Find Out About The Dangers Associated With Dieting Dieting should have sensible basis otherwise it may do nothing but undermine and ruin your health. There are some dangers associated with dieting.
Danger 1 - on my own
The habit always to rely upon oneself is not the appropriate tactics in dieting. Fattiness like any other diseases should be treated under the strict doctor’s control. Every one is unique and needs certain and specific approach. Someone may be stout but have a good health someone may have few “extra kilos” which will intermix with serious diseases. So you should be completely aware of your current state. Work, life style, surroundings, living conditions and even climate should be taken in account when choosing a diet.
Danger 2 - on the buckwheat
There are several dieting myths: you should eat meat, you should eat once or twice a day, it’s useful to eat only buckwheat or apple pines for example. Each product is wholesome for sure but only in the combination with other useful products. And if you decided to keep to a “one-side” diet you merely deprive yourself of necessary and vital elements.
The greatest problems may cause incredible protein decrease, especially animal protein which can not be substituted by soy or legumes protein. Animal protein is the base for ferments and hormones production. In case you reduce protein consumption the reproductive function gets worse and the blood formula changes.
Another danger is the lack of calcium which we usually get of the diary products. This element is absolutely necessary especially for the young organism which bones are still in the process of formation.
The variety of food is the main point of the right diet. Remember you may eat everything but with the sense of measure. Fish, vegetables and fruits are irreplaceable products and should “find place” in your diet however.
Danger 3 – only diet
If you really want to loose weight and not to regain it you’d better thing about dieting and physical loading as separate things but work out the plan of healthy life style. It may include the food we eat, the way we spend our free time, sleep and whatever. The main tendency today is square meals and minimum of physical exercise. The quantity of energy we receive should not exceed the quantity we consume.
The simplest recommendations are to eat divisionally – every 3 or 4 hours in little quantities, not to eat before going to bed.
Danger 4- food is my best friend
The other stumbling block is to compensate stress depression by eating sweets and chocolates. Some times in such situations a person may eat even when he is not hungry.
