I'm impressed!
I am new to the the Alexander Technique. This book gives clear explanations of the theory as well as provides several guided exercises which really put the theory into action. If you are ready for a lifelong journey of exploring yourself and your habitual patterns, this is a great way to start.

Great help for a new Alexander Technique student
This book was recommended to me by my Alexander Technique teacher. It's been extremely helpful to me in understanding Alexander Technique (and how the human body works) better and what is possible with the technique. It was fascinating to read about people overcoming fears or becoming better at sports, music, and anything else they're doing. I'd say in many instances her examples can be applied in your own life whether you're learning Alexander Technique or not. For example, she tells a story about a student who is a piano player who gets bad performance anxiety and she retrains him to not get a fear response when he's playing the piano. I'm actually afraid to drive because of two bad car accidents and hadn't driven in years. After reading this, I started to want to drive again and have done a few very short trips. I've tried some of the techniques she used on this student to help me overcome my fear. I still have a lot more work to do but it's a big step for me. The last time I drove, I didn't freak out afterward as I have in the past. Just understanding how the brain and fear responses work was so helpful.

Also, her take on the importance of the words we use when doing Alexander Technique was so helpful. I am apparently extremely sensitive to words. When my teacher suggested that I not contract something, I tightened it more. From what I read in the book, I said maybe we should say expand rather than not contract. As soon as she said it, my body shifted into better posture and I felt about 4 inches taller. For at least a week after that, I merely had to think the word expand and my body would shift like that. It was quite amazing.

Will get you through the tough times
Found this book to be exceptional. I've been working with two Alexander instructors for over two years. My instructors are great, but this book really opened some doors for me. Just accept that you can't read it all at once--you need to return to it again and again, and new doors will open!

I bought this for my grandma who's interested in the technique, she said the book was not geared towards doing exercises on your own to learn more. Disappointing...

Find Out About The Dangers Associated With Dieting

The greatest problems may cause incredible protein decrease, especially animal protein which can not be substituted by soy or legumes protein. Animal protein is the base for ferments and hormones production. In case you reduce protein consumption the reproductive function gets worse and the blood formula changes. Another danger is the lack of calcium which we usually get of the diary products. This element is absolutely necessary especially for the young organism which bones are still in the process of formation. The variety of food is the main point of the right diet. Remember you may eat everything but with the sense of measure. Fish, vegetables and fruits are irreplaceable products and should “find place” in your diet however. Danger 3 – only diet If you really want to loose weight and not to regain it you’d better thing about dieting and physical loading as separate things but work out the plan of healthy life style. It may include the food we eat, the way we spend our free time, sleep and whatever. The main tendency today is square meals and minimum of physical exercise. The quantity of energy we receive should not exceed the quantity we consume. The simplest recommendations are to eat divisionally – every 3 or 4 hours in little quantities, not to eat before going to bed. Danger 4- food is my best friend The other stumbling block is to compensate stress depression by eating sweets and chocolates. Some times in such situations a person may eat even when he is not hungry. Remember everything is in your own hands.
